Now is the best time to start planting for this year, but wait until the last possible minute. The later you plant, the less likely there will be a late frost. It’s a good idea to plant a few extra seeds in case of a late frost or freeze that knocks your planned crop out of commission.
What about fall? Fall can be hard on young plants and transplants because it gets too cold for them before they get established. In addition, some crops need at least six weeks to get going after sowing seed outdoors before temperatures dip below freezing.
