Lyrica is a new medication that treats the symptoms of fibromyalgia. It works by reducing pain signals from nerves in your body to your brain and spinal cord. Lyrica is used for people aged 16 years and older. The recommended dose of lyrica is 400 mg twice a day, or 60 milligrams (mg) per mL every four hours as needed. You should take it with food.* Lyrica may be taken with or without food. When you first start taking lyrica, try to take it at about the same time each day so that you can get used to how it affects you consistently over the course of one week.* If you forget a dose before bedtime, do not double up on doses when you remember later; just skip the missed dose and resume your regular schedule.
