When Is The Best Time To Take Amlodipine Besylate

The action of amlodipine besylate is the same as that of other calcium channel blockers. It should be started at a dose of 10 mg once daily taken with food and increased gradually if necessary to achieve the desired response. The usual adult dosage range for patients without hypertension, hyperthyroidism or heart failure is up to 80 mg once daily. For patients with severe renal impairment (creatinine clearance less than 30 ml/min), this may either be reduced by half or raised by one-third depending on their serum creatinine level at the initiation of treatment. In general, however, normal adults require no modification in dosage from recommended ranges above 90% of estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR). Amlodipine besylate can also be used to treat vasospastic angina pectoris especially when combined with nicardipine citrate under supervision from a physician experienced in cardiac disease management and who has reviewed all available information about these drugs including possible interactions and contraindications [see Contraindications].
