When Is The Best Time To See The Solar Eclipse

The best times for viewing the Great American Eclipse are in early morning, during the day and late afternoon. It is darkest at 2:36 a.m. ET on August 21st, when it will be close to totality (when the moon completely covers the sun). The eclipse starts at 9:17 a.m. EDT on Monday, with about 70 percent coverage of the sun’s disk blocked by the moon before 11:48 a.m., only 12 minutes after sunrise in central Ohio! When it ends at 4 p.m., you can expect to see up to 99 percent of the sun covered by the moon as darkness falls across America!
