When Is The Best Time To See Bioluminescence

The bioluminescence occurs primarily at night, when the water is still and clear. During daylight hours your best chance to see the light show is when you are in or near an inlet on a moonless night after dark — but don’t despair if it’s cloudy; the underwater world can be just as magical under overcast skies! If you’re interested in seeing this natural phenomenon for yourself, check out our Nighttime Biodiversity Page for ideas on where to go.
