Daniel Patrick Moore was born November 17, 1861 in County Kildare Ireland. He came to America with his parents when he was twelve years old; they settled first in New York City then moved three years later to Staunton Virginia where Daniel attended Richmond Academy before heading out west to California where he graduated from San Francisco University College (now Golden Gate Baptist Seminary). His career as a writer began after college graduation when Moore accepted employment as editor-in-chief of the Southern Courier newspaper published by John Hays Hammonds (founder of Pacific Coast Baptist Association). In 1888 Moore established his own publishing house named The Yellowstone Press Company with offices located at 121 Montgomery Street
