Most gardeners who grow hydrangeas outside plant them in the spring, but if you are planting your plants during a warmer time of year that isn’t too hot or too cold, then there is no need to worry about it being too early. The best time for planting hydrangeas on the east coast is April through May. If you live on the west coast and plan to plant these plants in September or October, then you may have more success with later planted hydrangeas.
